Welcome to my Udaipur Travel Diary!
It all started with me looking for train reservations for any possible place which I can explore with my family. And the only place with available tickets was Udaipur. Though I had Udaipur in my mind, I didn’t expect that it would happen so quickly and in the next few days, we booked an Airbnb and packed our bags. It was the month of August, and visiting Udaipur during the monsoon season was the best decision we made.
Day 1
We reached Udaipur early morning and took a cab to our Airbnb which was a beautiful 2BHK house with a workstation. We love staying at Airbnb because of the kitchen where we can cook breakfast and make tea anytime. And it gives a feeling of home as if were a resident of the city. We checked in and dozed off till 9 am. Mom called us for breakfast, she had prepared Poha. We had breakfast, enjoyed tea, got ready, and left to explore Udaipur.
Karni Mata Temple
Our first destination was Karni Mata temple. Reached the place where you could take a ropeway. Though it was very crowded the wait was worth it. The cable car took us to the temple while we enjoyed the beautiful views of Lake Pichola from above.
The temple is beautiful, and our experience was enhanced by the drizzle. The view from Karni Mata Temple was enthralling!
After enjoying the breathtaking views, we went for lunch and enjoyed a scrumptious Rajasthani meal.
Tip: If you’re planning to visit Karni Mata Temple, choose early morning time as the place becomes lot crowded till afternoon.
City Palace, Udaipur
If one word could describe this place: Awe-inspiring!
No Udaipur trip is complete without visiting the City Palace, Udaipur. We were approached by a tour guide at the gate of the palace and I’m so glad that we agreed. The palace is so grand, and beautiful with amazing architecture. Every part of the fort has fascinating stories.
Tip: To explore the place at it’s best and to make the most of your Udaipur travel, don’t hesitate to hire a guide. The guide will charge you ₹ 300 for the palace tour and it’s worth every penny.
At the end of our city palace tour, it started raining and we took shelter at a small tea stall. Enjoyed tea and then took a rickshaw to our Airbnb Udaipur.
Drenched in rain, we reached back to our place. Had dinner at the food court in Celebration Mall, which was within walking distance from our place. Wrapped up Day 1 of our Udaipur travel, came back home and went to sleep thinking about the amazing day we had.
Day 2
Boat Ride At Lake Pichola
Woke up early in the morning and had breakfast. Got ready to leave for boating at Lake Pichola! Can’t describe how beautiful this lake is. The boat ride takes you on a long round of the Lake and you can spot the beautiful City Palace and remarkable places such as Taj Lake Palace, and The Oberoi Udaivilas. A boat ride in Lake Pichola is the best way to enjoy the real beauty of Udaipur.
Saheliyon Ki Bari
Saheliyon ki bari is a hidden gem. What I expected to be a small garden turned out to be so beautiful place with breathtaking fountains midst of lush green surroundings. This place has 5 beautiful fountains and each one has a distinct sound of water that takes you to different worlds. We explored this place with a guide and it only enriched our experience.
Boatride At Fatehsagar Lake & Nehru Garden
After enjoying a delicious Rajasthani meal, we went to Fatehsagar lake for a boat ride. The ride takes us to Nehru Garden, which is an island garden in Fateh Sagar Lake and has diverse plants, trees & bird life. Simply beautiful. Enjoyed tea after the boat ride, and came back to rest after a quick shopping trip to the Hathi Pol market.

Loved every second of the Udaipur trip. It’s a place that you should not miss!
